Turning to the Irrational Side

Most of us lean on our rational sides when it comes to thinking. We frame situations & circumstances as problem statements, break them down into logical units, assess risks, plan actions and follow structured paths to reach goals. We make best efforts in making logical decisions and exercising rational choices.

Perhaps one of the greatest achievements of human rationality and logical reasoning is Artificial Intelligence (AI) - the result of decades of meticulous planning, algorithmic brilliance, and relentless pursuit of structure and efficiency. AI thrives on compute- algorithm-data triad, and in many ways it embodies the essence of the rational world. As AI continues to dominate the rational realm, and excel at the logic game, it feels timely to reflect on the other end of the spectrum - the Irrational Side the intuitive, creative, and "irrational" side of the human mind.

Why (a natural question from the rational side) ?
In a rational world that prioritizes and often over-emphasizes data-driven decisions analyzing past events to design the future, often leading to a "creating-more-of-the-same" syndrome at scale—it’s the dynamic interplay between rationality and creativity that will drive true innovation. It is the “irrational” side that will allows us to make unexpected connections and spark new ideas.

But, despite its power, the irrational mind does not enjoy a stage as prominent as its rational counterpart and at times the existing space appears to be shrinking. And while the rational mind continues to thrive on order, structure, and logic, creativity needs intentional effort on the individual and the collective to create and foster environments that encourage exploration, reflection, and freedom from conventional constraints

As we close 2024 and inch closer to the start of 2025,  I hope the world sheds more light on the seeds of irrationality, and we create new paths, new stories of stepping outside of conventional frameworks and exploring the new to reimagine a better future. May we create a more balanced view of the world and our coexistence. May more leaders blend rationality with intuitive thinking to drive meaningful change. May the space for intuition, instinct and imaginations expand. May we nurture spaces and environments that encourage both rationality and creativity for sustainable growth of our souls.

May we seek our light, find our light and dare to be true to our light.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone!
